U9 v Smallwood Manor Lost

S. Anselm’s 245 (15 overs) lost to Smallwood Manor 271 (15 overs) by 26 runs

Harvey W and Jonah G began the S.Anselm’s innings steadily and added 12 runs in their 3 overs. Bertie S and Tom D then had the best partnership of the innings adding 15 runs. The next three pairings of Luke S and Monty H, George T and George G and Dominic H and Lewis S only managed to add a further 18 runs against some accurate Smallwood bowling and wickets were lost regularly. A total of only 245 was accumulated in the allotted 15 overs.
Smallwood began their innings with urgency and punished some wayward bowling , with far too many wides being bowled and no wickets were taken in the whole innings to stem the runs. Smallwood reached their target without problem and a disappointing loss recorded.
The boys need to work on their shot selection, running between the wicket, placement of the ball and bowling straight and accurately. There is much potential within this group and they can bounce back from this disappointment.
