Saturday:
Mr Berry and Mr Northcott took a rapidly improving 1st XV down to play at the home of Rugby – on Rugby School’s 1st XV pitch. We played a Gayhurst team that we largely outclassed. The backs handled the ball supremely well, but of course they could not have done that without the hard work of the forwards in getting the ball. On the eve of his sports scholarship there Freddie R-S scored three impressive tries as the side won 47-0. Ollie N was named man of the match for his general play, tries and kicking. (The second year in a row)

Meanwhile at home every side won against Birkdale, and every side won against Denstone at hockey!
Sunday:
It was an early start for 15 children as they set off for the Malvern Olympiad at 7am this morning. It was to commemorate the opening of the new sports complex down at Malvern College. The Championship involved 5 other prep schools: Winterfold house, The Downs, The Elms and Abberley Hall.

All 15 pupils performed brilliantly and had a great time:
Jess R-S, Erin S, Georgina H, Georgina T, Clare T, Arabella A, Poppy S, Harvey W, Jonah G, Tom D, Bertie S, Charlie S, Oli R, Alex W, and Edward S.

The events comprised of a mixture of individual events and team relays. Eg. Javelin, target throw, high knee exercise, standing broad jump balance test, rebound board relays, hurdles and tunnels.

Overall it was great to hear so many positive comments about the politeness and behaviour of our pupils, and to cap it all we won the competition! More silverware for S. Anselm’s !!

Christina Boxer (Triple Olympian at 800m & Commonwealth Games Gold Medalist) awarding the Trophy to the S. Anselm's Team.
Meanwhile back at the ranch…….
The kitchens did us proud with a full English breakfast this morning to set everyone up for a busy Sunday.
Adam Langsdale Housemaster of School House at Oundle gave a great sermon to the rest of the school about the choices we have to make in life. This was amid some excellent singing (even by our high standards).

After a hearty lunch the trips went off. As usual there was a myriad of fabulous things to do. Mrs Price took an eager bunch off to the cinema to watch "UP" in 3D and the girls came back with big grins and even bigger spectacles!

The tenpin bowling was a major hit for the Slieve Mor girls who were royally entertained by the Berry family.

A stroll by the river followed by half an hour in the shops at Matlock Bath kept the School House boys busy and the Hillcrest girls had a fabulous time producing their own fashion show too.

For anyone who felt that this was all too tame there was a wild game of manhunt and 40/40 on the back field. The junior boys then had hot chocolate at the Mace's and for everyone there was an early night ready for the last push before a well-deserved half term!
