This has been a hugely busy and productive weekend and the children have had a fabulous time.
On Friday night the Maces and the Eatons took the Junior boarders down to Felicinis to celebrate the first few weeks of term. Pizzas, ice-creams and cokes were guzzled as a fitting treat. Saturday saw some fabulous games of football being played in the Senior House matches and it was great to see all the Year 7 and 8 lads playing with such determination. All credit to Churchills who won the tournament by a whisker!

On Saturday night all the boarders had the usual "Saturday Night Treat" watching a film but the Hillcrest and Garden House girls went to the cinema to watch "War Horse". This was thanks to the Eatons and the Seddons. By all accounts it was an terrific film in grand proportions.
On Sunday we all bounced out of bed, feasted on a super breakfast and listened intently to Mr Fleck, Headmaster of Sedbergh School; he delivered a very telling message indeed. We had to have a quick lunch before the Year 7 and 8 pupils dashed down to Hassop Station on the Monsal Trail to start their charity bike ride in aid of the Christie Hospital. It was fantastic to see so many pupils involved including some very young day pupils who joined their parents and older siblings. Mr Wood and Mr Berry led the fastest cyclists with skill and thanks go to Mrs Whawell and Mr Donaldson too. I think we must have had about seventy associates of S. Anselm's on the trail at any one time! Everyone did marvellously well and everyone got to the end of the trail and back. It was also lovely to have lots of parents watching and cycling too and their support was very much appreciated. I believe that we will raise a large amount for this very worthy charity as the children have expertly twisted arms to secure some sponsorship! Thanks to all involved.

The Junior boys were hosted by the Eatons who let them play some ancient computer games whilst Mr Eaton did a potted history of computer games. This was followed by a good film too - perfect for tired heads!
So all in all a marvellous day during which so much has been achieved. Well done to everyone..... I think we have earned our exeat!
