Weekend of the 12th and 13th November

Weekend of the 12th and 13th November

There has been a real buzz about the place across this weekend. We are in the heart of the term and nearing the middle of the academic year so there is a genuine sense of purpose and excitement. Good friendships are being forged and lots of fun and adventures are being had. All four houses have been hives of activity with lots going on...... as you can see below.

On Saturday we had some hard fought House matches. Churchills won the junior boys' rugby and Nelsons won the senior girls' hockey. That night we had a well deserved crash out in front of various films with hot choc and buns. The next morning the Year 8's were given a vital lie-in and had breakfast back in the houses in their dressing gowns. Then it was straight into a very moving service of remembrance delivered by Mr Eaton who focused on the life of one old school master at S. Anselm's called Richard Chalk who will be well remembered now. Amelia W played The Last Post on her trumpet with great skill and the readers read with care.

Thank you to the parents who came and supported this service and gave generously to Help the Heroes.

We then welcomed Mowden School's netball team and our girls had an epic battle on bottom court against their 1st team. They triumphed and after a presentation ceremony they had a swim with the girls too. The Year 8 and 7 pupils had a chance to get lots of revision done this afternoon and seem well prepared for the exams next week. Meanwhile the junior boys sped off to The Arc in Matlock for a swim in their massive pool. Hot chocolate and a Kit Kat were well received afterwards!

This has been a peaceful day with lots of time to recharge before the last few days up to exeat. Well done to every pupil involved and thanks to all the staff that made it possible. This evening the girls and boys relaxed and steadied themselves for the run-up to exeat.
