Sunday 8 May started blissfully slowly. Having had a whole school service in the local parish church on Saturday, there was no service on this Sunday. So everyone had a gentle lie-in followed by one of our legendary full English breakfasts.
Mr Northcott took a net session in the morning, with lots of boys wanting to brush up on their techniques.
The Wildgooses very kindly hosted the boys who were disappointed by the cancelation of the Wrekin cricket tournament and Mrs Booker hosted Olivia C and the girls who had hoped to play rounders at Wrekin as well. Our many thanks to them for their generosity.
Mr Mace took a film ("Empire of the Sun") in the Hargreaves Hall, and there was a revision session put on for the Year 8's as they prepare for CE. Other than that it was a lazy Sunday morning which allowed everyone to collapse in the unexpected sunshine.
After a great lunch it was off to Carsington Water for the majority of pupils. There were lots of activities on offer: raft building, bell boating (massive kayak's), windsurfing and sailing. Needless to say it was great fun and wet laughing children were pleasantly heard all over Carsington water.
Mrs Taylor then hosted a history talk for the Year 7's & 8's on the Industrial Revolution and William Armstrong from a visiting lecturer.
After supper, in the evening sunshine, the pupils had an unofficial water fight outside - saves on the showers!
Finally it was a formal supper by candlelight! Roast chicken and all the trimmings followed by treacle tart and lashings of cream. Well exercised and tired after a great day the boys and girls flopped into bed.
