Wine-Tasting in aid of the Bursary Fund

A second very enjoyable wine-tasting event was held on May 21st hosted by Richard and Katrina Mayson in their beautiful barn at Ashford-in-the-Water. Richard, a knowledgeable wine expert, guided the guests through a list of delicious champagnes, rose and port and held a blind-tasting with a very special bottle of Krug champagne, generously donated by a parent, as the prize. Another parent donated first class cheeses and canapes from her specialist shop in Belper and a great time was had by everyone. Together with a further anonymous donation the evening raised over £1,300 which will go the Bursary Fund. A fourth bursary pupil has just been awarded a five year bursary staring in September and the three bursary pupils at present in the school are all making very good progress.
