Mrs Northcott has been busy every evening judging the Xmas decorations in each dormitory.
Welcome to S. Anselm’s Winter Wonderland. This year the Christmas Dorm Competition has been the best yet! This week the Boarders have presented their Christmas themed rooms to Mrs Northcott. Well, Mrs Northcott was certainly not disappointed. All the dorms were brightly decorated and what was fantastic to see was that each dorm certainly had individuality!
In Garden House, the themes ranged from acting by Emily H and Immy A, Amelia M and Jess P dressed up as Santa and an elf, we had homemade cookies straight out of the homemade oven! We lucky dips to find candy canes, we also had a fantastic sing song and dancing with a nativity theme.
In Hillcrest, Mrs Seddon had beautifully decorated the entrance hall to set the scene, then we had programmes handed out on entry into the dorms, we had carols sung, we had Christmas music played, The standard of decorations were very impressive, it was lovely to see superbly decorated trees in every room.
In Slieve Mor, We had Mary and Jesus, shepherds, homemade pictures and paperchains, Christmas trees, flashing lights, tinsel galore and Christmas teddies, along with a huddle around the home made log fire (cardboard) in the corner of one of the dorms! After a sing song around the tree, it was time for a visit to School House.
In School House, the atmosphere was hotting up! The junior dorms were very excited. The dorms had music, choir boys singing, light up dancing Christmas trees, flashing lights, baubles and tinsel and in Luckcraft dorm we had an Umbrella and snowflake hide and seek game. The Year 7 dorms were also impressive, they consisted of singing, light up churches, Christmas signs, Santa Special entertainment, enormous baubles, a Christmas joke by George M “What doesn’t eat at Christmas ?” …. A Stuffed Turkey! The Year 8 boys certainly ended the evening perfectly! We as always finished with lots of Christmas dancing, Nick P was dressed up as a penguin and Henry T dressed up as Santa. Cameron, Ed S and Nick T really enjoyed a Christmas boogie in their dorm and we saw a world record attempt with the longest paper chain in El Alamein Dorm.
I must congratulate all the boarders for throwing themselves into the dorm decorations this year! It has certainly been a huge Christmas cracker of a competition. Winners will be announced this evening at the Christmas Feast ……. Very exciting!
Some photos (they will give you a flavour of how much fun it has been).

The girls took a slightly different approach!
