On Tuesday, 28th June Year 7 collected their data for the Geography project.

We started off on the Monsal Trail, at the bottom of Great Longstone village so we could draw a field sketch of the edge and
decide whether or not the quarry workings were having an impact on the view. The next stop was Rowland village, from which we walked
up to the old workings, one of which was back filled 25 years ago and a second site back filled 5 years ago. The final site was the open
workings. At these three sites everyone completed a Quality of the Environment Survey.

After all this hard work we walked across to the top of Moor Lane and had a lovely picnic lunch, taking in the views below us. The final
walk, back to Longstone, was also used to under take a land use transect. We walked through scrub, meadows and dairy fields before
arriving at Saint Giles in the village.
All this information will be used in the first half of the Autumn term.
