Y6 Pupils raise £340 for Charity!

Y6 Pupils raise £340 for Charity!

Mrs Young issued the Y6 pupils with the following challenge in their ICT lesson earlier this term...

'Develop a product or service that you could make or provide to raise money for your chosen charity. You will plan, research, produce, market and sell your product using ICT wherever possible!

The pupils have conducted market research using online surveys and search engines, they have produced spreadsheets, posters, banners, labels, sent e-mails and letters etc. demonstrating a wide variety of ICT skills. One group's idea was to use a face changing app to produce printed Christmas cards.

They rose to the challenge and thoroughly enjoyed selling their wares at the recent Christmas Fayre. They were given an hour to sell their produce and in this short time managed to raise £340 for their chosen charities.
They have learned many valuable skills. Each group elected a Project Manager who was responsible for co-ordinating their project.

 Results

Group  Charity  Money Raised
Face Changer  Barnados  £8.50
Food Glorious Food  Sheffield Children's Hospital  £80.28
Bonfire Candy  Save the Children  £41
One Tough Cookie  Brooke  £50
Ginger Bread House  Neurocare  £60.10
Candy Queen  Kestevan Children in Need  £100.01

Candy Queen raised the most money for the Kestevan Children in Need. Their stall was swamped with children eager to sample their chocolate fountain goodies. The group was Project Managed by Emily H and consisted of Lexi, Evie D, Laura D and Imogen N.

Their prize will be a trip to the Holdsworth Chocolate Factory in Bakewell early next term, whose exclusive chocolates are sold in shops across the UK including Harrods. Hopefully they will be able to pick up more entrepreneurial skills (and maybe sample the odd chocolate) ready for their next fundraising project!

Well done to all the Y6 pupils... a tremendous effort!
