What a fun afternoon Year 1 had when Mrs Gaunt (Natalie’s Mum) kindly brought in some of her mother’s toy collection, which date back to the 1930’s and the coronation of King GeorgeV1. As we knew how old the toys were, we made sure we handled them with special care.
The children took turns to visit a table which had a variety of exciting toys from the past placed upon it. Not only did the pupils have an opportunity to play with them but they also tried to work out how it worked and if we had anything similar to it today. Some of the games were very tricky and we all agreed that children in the olden days must have had a lot of patience!
Afterwards we all chose our favourite toy and tried our best to sketch it and write some information about the type of materials it was made out of. Thank you so very much to Natalie’s Grandmother for allowing us to spend time with her wonderful collection.
