During half term the Year 6 Geographers were given an optional activity of building their own volcano, and what a great job many of them did! All different sorts of materials were used; those with a medical connection used bandages, some flower pots were the bases, clay was moulded, cakes were baked and iced in fluorescent colours and even soot and ashes from the fire were employed to make these volcanoes look really authentic. A few students demonstrated an eruption; vinegar and bicarbonate of soda made a splendid gush, cola and soft mints made a great fizz and the orange paint made a big mess, mainly on Mrs Whawell and its creator!
