Year 8 v The Parents won by 2 wickets

The match was played in beautiful sunny weather on the Top Field. The parents batted first, Mr Wildgoose was unfortunately run out for 7 and Mr Riley was next out for 9 falling to his son. Mr Howard and mr Milligan-Manby batted very well showing the boys a full array of shots and both retired on 25. Mr Harrisson, Mr Woodhouse and Mr Hetherington all fell to their sons for 9, 13 & 0 respectively. Sir Richard batted superbly for his 30 before retiring.Mr Woolhouse, Mr Dudgeon were out to their sons for 11 & 3. There was a late flurry of runs from Mr Frost who finished on 21 not out, the Parents final total was an impressive 184.

The boys innings didn't start well with Izaak C, John W and Hugo R departing for 2, 4 & 9 respectively. John W being very unlucky to fall to a remarkable reflex catch by Mr Milligan-Manby. Kevin H was batting very well and retired on 25, Jack M-M scored 27 before he retired and Jack H scored 6 falling to another brilliant catch by Mr Milligan-Manby. The key partnershiop was between Charlie H and William W who both scored 26 before retiring, William hitting two big sixes.Will A and Elliott W edged the score closer to the target with scores of 21 and 12, then Paddy D and Henry F saw the team home to a good victory.

This was a fine afternoon of cricket played in the right spirit and to a very fgood standard.
