During the Summer term, we enjoyed watching the Prep School participate in our superbly acted Shakespeare Festival, and it is fair to say that all performances were first class.  The sun smiled down on us as we staged a number of outdoor theatre productions, as we were able to welcome parents (in year group cohorts), to see their children’s work.

The initiative was introduced by Mrs Hunter and the aim was for every child in Years 3 to 8 to have the opportunity to participate in one of the planned features, whether presenting or acting, or in the design, staging or key technical roles.

Year 3 presented a short feature on the life and times of Shakespeare
, Year 4 presented a feature on Twelfth Night,
Year 5 gave us the highlights from A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Year 6 showcased the story of Macbeth, and
Year 7, the tale of Romeo and Juliet.

The festival culminated in Shakespeare’s final play, with Year 8’s Prep School annual production of ‘The Tempest’ in the Hargreaves Hall, which was received with rapturous applause from the audience.

A huge thank you to Mrs Hunter and all staff and children who worked hard on the productions, and to Mr Percival and Mrs Baines for incorporating evocative music to set the atmosphere for each of the features.
