The entire Preparatory School walked down the hill to Bakewell Parish Church for our Ash Wednesday Service this morning, undeterred by the rain and mist!
It was a very reflective and humbling service led by our School Chaplain, Canon Tony Kaunhoven, to begin our journey into Lent and towards the celebrations of Easter. Everyone felt so appreciative of being about to return to the lovely surroundings of All Saints as a school and community, and it was marvellous to welcome so many of our parents again.
During the signing of the ash crosses, the S. Anselm’s Chapel Choir performed two beautiful pieces that they have been rehearsing for their forthcoming Jersey Tour: John Rutter’s ‘The Lord Bless You and Keep You’ and the Mozart ‘Ave Verum Corpus’.
Very well done to our Year 8 pupils, Harry, Ben, Zack, Emma and Bea, for their excellent presentation of the readings.
We hope that this Lent will be a time of renewal and growth for everybody.
