Our Year 6 pupils travelled to the Battle of Bosworth Heritage Centre on Tuesday 21st September, to learn more about the event that marked the start of the Tudor dynasty. In 1485, Richard III’s defeat, at the hands of Henry Tudor, leading a small rebel army, commenced the reign of the Tudor family for the next 118 years.
The children enjoyed a guided talk of the battlefield, participating in an exciting re-enactment of the march of the armies as they approached the historic Bosworth battle field. They explored the award winning Heritage Centre museum and were treated to a ‘Knight School’ talk and demonstration from Sir John of Bosworth, a highly skilled archer. Everyone was fascinated to see and learn all about the armour and weaponry of the time.
The fabulous weather, and the children’s excellent company, added to making this a really super trip.
