In Year 5 Art lessons over recent weeks, pupils have been building sculptures out of wood, cardboard and wire, inspired by the abstract drawings of British artist, Ben Nicholson. The idea behind these sculptures was to unbalance them in some way, then correct the balance with adding other design elements.  A limited colour palette was used, as can be seen in Ben Nicholson’s abstract paintings.  This work was linked to Year 5 work on bridges carried out in Project lessons and the pupils used glue guns to join the different elements together.
