Last week, twelve musicians from S. Anselm’s headed out early in their minibus accompanied by Mrs Walker, Head of Woodwind and Mr Percival for Rugby Senior School to join three other participating prep schools in their Brass, Woodwind and Percussion Day.
Rehearsals with specialist Rugby School musicians and pupils directed by Head of Brass, Ian Foster, and overseen by Director of Music, Richard Tanner, commenced in the wonderful Temple Speech Room Building alongside 60 other instrumentalists.
The repertoire was challenging but accomplishable, resulting in a superb and loud concert in the afternoon. S. Anselm’s parents, and of course many others, enjoyed five pieces including the James Bond Theme and I Vow to Thee.
The musicians were excellent ambassadors for the school, behaving exceptionally well. They were all tired at the end of the day but with beaming smiles and wonderful memories. Thank you to the Rugby School Music Department for hosting such a memorable event.
