S. Anselm’s pulled out all the stops to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of our Queen on Friday 27th May, just before we broke up for the half term holiday.
The children worked hard in baking and decorating Jubilee Victoria sponges, creating iconic building designs fit for the Jubilee and arranging table centre posies of garden flowers for the various competitions staged for the event. These were displayed as centre pieces for our special Jubilee lunch, held on S. Anselm’s Top Field. Everyone dressed for the occasion in red, white and blue and the Chapel Choir and school band performed a special programme, including leading everyone in singing the National Anthem.
School governor, Dr Blandy Mayson, together with our Prep School Head Boy and Girl planted a commemorative Cherry Tree in the school grounds, and a special time capsule, prepared by our Pre-Prep children was buried.
Games followed with The Crocombe relay, won by Churchills, which was followed by a mighty effort in Tug of War. Pitts triumphed in the Junior Prep Tug of War Tournament, with Churchills winning again in the Senior Prep Tournament. Our parents then took on a staff team, resulting a win for the S. Anselm’s staff!
It was truly a day to remember, and we hope our children will treasure and recollect fond memories for life!

Gracious God, we give you thanks
for the reign of your servant Elizabeth our Queen,
and for the example of loving and faithful service
which she has shown among us.
