S. Anselm’s College Head Girl, Emily, confidently rose to the challenge recently when she was invited to join a judging panel for an art competition held by her former school, St Annes, in Baslow.

The competition was facilitated by the Church Farm Gallery and the theme was ‘Space’.

Emily said:
“It was an honour to be invited to judge a competition for my former school. I have always loved art so I thoroughly enjoyed being on the Panel. When I was in Year 6, I remember taking part in this competition myself, when the theme was ‘Olympics in Rio, so I understood how much the competition meant to all the entrants. The standard of the pieces this year was very high, and it was difficult to choose a winner!”

Gallery owner, Norman Tomlinson, said:
“I invited Emily to join the Panel, alongside a doctor and an artist from the village, as I remember her fabulous entry from five years ago, and her positive and enthusiastic personality. Emily is a talented artist herself and I knew she would achieve great things, so I was not at all surprised to learn she has been chosen as Head Girl for S. Anselm’s College. Both I and St. Annes were very grateful for her valued input in this competition.”

Winning entries will be framed by the gallery and proudly displayed in the school.
