Drama
Drama at S. Anselm’s College seeks to build on the foundations of creative drama and expression established in the Prep School. College pupils explore the dramatic arts in greater detail and depth providing a platform for their own performance work.
Pupils work as performers and directors, learning about the invaluable skills of collaboration and creativity. They are supported by teaching staff to challenge themselves and achieve high quality work.
Drama in Year 9 provides firm foundations for the GCSE Drama course, which is offered as a GCSE option. The course includes studying a range of play scripts, learning about the technical aspects of theatre and stage design and devising practical pieces for performance from a variety of stimuli.
Regular opportunities to see live and diverse theatre in local and national settings are offered and pupils are encouraged to critically reflect on their experiences.
Drama also flourishes beyond the curriculum with all pupils having the opportunity to engage in College plays, staged in the school’s Hargreaves Hall.
