It was a proud moment for Emelia in Year 8 – and her parents – when she played double bass in a concert at the Royal Northern College of Music last week, in their Junior Chamber Orchestra.  The concert included Beethoven’s Coriolan Overture and Peter Warlock’s Capriol Suite.

Emelia, aged 12, is currently Grade 7 double bass and studies under Geth Griffith at the Junior RNCM.  As her first instrument, Emelia will have the opportunity of playing with the RNCM’s Junior Chamber Orchestra and Junior Symphonia on an alternating termly basis.  Already an accomplished musician, Emelia also studies Singing and French Horn at S. Anselm’s, in which she is Grade 7 and Grade 6 respectively, and performs in many school concerts as well as singing in the S. Anselm’s Chapel Choir in which she is Head Chorister.

Many congratulations Emelia and we can’t wait to hear you in many wonderful performances in the future!
