On Monday, our U11A Boy’s Hockey team travelled down to London in preparation for playing in the Under 11s ISA National Championship at the iconic Lee Valley Olympic Hockey Park.
Following an overnight stay at the Lee Valley Youth Hostel overnight, the boys were in great shape to compete.
Their morning games saw our team draw their first game 0-0, win their second game 2-0 and lose their third game 1-0, which meant they finished second in the group.
After a short lunch, there was time for a quick visit to the Olympic VeloPark to see the world class velodrome facilities, before the afternoon matches commenced.
After finishing second in the group, S. Anselm’s qualified for the Plate Group and went on to win the quarter final against Thorpe Hall School 1-0, and then beat Crackley Hall in the final. After normal time the score was 0-0 and the game went to a penalty shootout, resulting in a final score of 3-2 to the S. Anselm’s boys – bringing home gold medals and the Plate.
Congratulations to each any every member of the S. Anselm’s team for a marvellous achievement, and to their teachers for their exceptional coaching and dedication.
With it only being two months since our U11 Girls’ achieved Bronze medals in the ISA Cup Group at Lee Valley, it goes to show the levels at which our teams are currently performing.
Good luck to the U13 boys who will be at Lee Valley tomorrow repeating the trip over today and tomorrow.
