The Junior forms were treated to a wonderful assembly by 4E, all about the author J.K. Rowling, and how a ‘second chance’ enabled her to finally get the recognition she deserved for her amazing Harry Potter stories.
Alice requested to play ‘Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy’ by Tchaikovsky on her harp, so our harp teacher, Rebecca Grunten, created a special arrangement especially for her. Despite the piece being incredibly chromatic and involving new techniques (Left Hand lever changes!), Alice was not deterred and everyone was enchanted to hear her play it so beautifully. Alice will be taking her Grade 1 next, in which none of the pieces contain lever changes, so it is wonderful to see her become accomplished in these techniques so early on.
Mr Thompson then presented a number of pupils with their Times Tables Rock Stars and Reading Awards.
Finally, Mrs Wragg, Amelia and Emilia shared the exciting letter they had received from the chief executive of World Wildlife Fund Australia, after raising money by selling the friendship bracelets they created last year. You can read more about this and the thank you letter the children received here.
Very well done everyone!
