Every Thursday morning, our Junior Forms pupils and teachers meet in the Hargreaves Hall to enjoy some time together for reflection and celebration.  So far, the children in class 5B have performed their form assembly by reciting information about people who have achieved great things by not giving up.  This linked in perfectly with this term’s theme ‘Against All Odds’ and we look forward to watching the other forms each perform an assembly throughout the rest of this term.

Musical performances, special awards and the weekly house winners are also celebrated during this time.

On Thursday, our Head of English, Mr Mace came to speak to us all about National Poetry Day and announced the finalists of the Lockdown Poetry Competition from last year.  The winners, Phoebe and Elspeth, read their poems out enthusiastically for us all to enjoy.

Year 3, having spent the week writing dinosaur rhyming poems, decided to perform one written by Andrew, entitled ‘TEN LITTLE DINOSAURS.’  Each pupil acted out the part of a ‘little dinosaur’ until each had disappeared and we were left with ZERO.

It was lovely to see the children enjoying watching and listening to each other and they thoroughly deserved the huge round of applause at the end.  Elspeth played a complex piece on the piano and we also heard about Scarlett’s singing award, in which she achieved a distinction.

A harvest prayer, read by Lawrence and Cleo, was a fitting end to our Junior Assembly.
