On the evening of Monday 27th November, S. Anselm’s School hosted there annual Michaelmas Concert. Ensembles and soloists rocked the audience for a sizzling hours’ worth of entertainment.

From the outset, Boys’ a Capella calmed the room with a heartfelt Paradise and Somewhere Only We Know, this led to soloist Amelia G singing a beautiful rendition of Where the Bee Sucks. The newly formed Big Band jived and swung us all following up with Elspeth on piano performing a most musical grade 5 Minnelied piece.

Girls’ Close Harmony formed of 10 senior girls generated powerful and harmonious performances of Skyfall and A Thousand Years. They left Lucy B on stage to sing the traditional and soulful Water is Wide and then onto the vibrant junior Choir casting a musical spell over the audience combining hand signing and singing with Bob Chilcott’s Can You Hear Me. 

A passionate and stylish Abba Slipping Through My Fingers was to follow performed by Maxie H performed. After a minute of preparation the Rock Band burst into life with a buoyant Shotgun finishing with a stunning Holiday by Green Day.

The finishing act was the wonderful Chapel Choir led by Head Chorister Maxie H performing Caresse Sur L’ocean and The Christmas Peace Canon. A huge thank you to all of the fantastic performers and our marvellous peripatetic teachers at S. Anselm’s School.
