Over the next couple of weeks, our specialist piano tutors will be collating entries for the Piano Masterclass with Ben Andrew, Head of Keyboard from Stowe School, on the morning of Saturday 22nd May. The Masterclass is open to all S. Anselm’s pianists of Grade 1 and above, and we strongly encourage each and every pianist to take part in this exceptional opportunity to draw inspiration from a nationally acclaimed pianist. For those preparing for examinations, the feedback and encouragement will be particularly valuable.
Your child’s piano tutor will advise which class your child should enter and the timings. Should your child not usually attend Saturday morning school, do please hold the date in your diary.
On this occasion, to enable safe distancing, the event will be solely for our own pupils and regretfully, we are unable to invite parents or other audience members to watch.
Making music with Uppingham
The deadline for participation in the Uppingham Digital Concert (13th March), has now passed, but the wonderful musical arrangements for different instruments/grades and learning resources are still available here on the Uppingham Digital Prep Schools Day webpage. If you haven’t yet downloaded them, it might be worth doing so before the page is taken down.
If your son or daughter submitted video contributions, these will be worked into a Digital Concert that will be sent to you in the Summer.
Practice for House Points Challenge
The New Year is a great time to set new targets and what better opportunity than the present to step up on our instrumental or vocal practice? All our specialist music teachers should have been in touch with their pupils to organise online lessons, and to fire everyone’s motivation, we are launching a lockdown practice challenge.
We’d like all our musicians to complete a weekly practice record sheet (click here to download), to record and verify the minutes of genuine, focused practice they complete.
40 minutes of genuine, valid practice earns 1 House Point.
Please email your weekly total to Mr Percival by 5.00pm each a Friday for submission.
We typically recommend a minimum of 20 minutes’ practice per instrument, at least four times a week
