On Thursday evening, a host of Year 6 and 7 pupils were joined by their parents in the S. Anselm’s Library.  They bravely came forward to read extracts from The Hobbit, Swallows and Amazons, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and more.  They also read poems by Lord Tennyson and Guy Kennedy.

The parents were royally entertained and were rightly very proud of these young boys and girls who read with skill and enthusiasm.  We were very grateful for the parents’ support and for the work done by teachers to ready the children for this challenging event. To be able to present to a group of people is an essential skill in both professional and personal life so this experience will be valuable to all those involved.

Mrs Seddon was our judge for the evening, and it was not an easy job, so our sincere thanks go to her.  Worthy recipients received certificates and chocolate for first, second and third places but all the pupils involved were champions and should be very pleased with themselves indeed!
