The school was bustling with a vast array of fictional characters on Monday, 13th September as our pupils took part in a very special Roald Dahl Dress Up Day. The children had a truly entertaining and fabulous day and their excellently put together costumes were stunning! We had lots of Matildas, a few Twits, a Willy Wonka, some creatures from James and the Giant Peach as well as Boggis, Bunce and Bean! The Witches also graced the S. Anselm’s corridors as did Violet Beauregarde, Mike TV, the BFG and many more!

Lessons were based around the marvellous world of Roald Dahl with teachers looking at the techniques Dahl employed in his writing as well as encouraging the children to read and enjoy his wonderful creations.

We are proud to say that we will have raised around £350 for Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity. This charity provides specialist nurses and support for severely ill children. (www.roalddahlcharity.org)

Our thanks go to the parents who helped organise the costumes, the teachers who really got behind the whole day and the children who engaged so enthusiastically with our celebration of the writer’s work. We should all be proud that we have supported an important charity too.
