We are delighted to be selected by The National Gallery to display our children’s ‘Curious Creature Jars’ produced as part of the National Gallery’s ‘Take One Picture’. A picture of the ‘pig-lung experiment board’ and part of the ‘bird animation video’ will be also be included in the exhibition’s digital display.
The National Gallery have said they are “particularly impressed by the high standard of work submitted this year, so many congratulations!”
Pupils in our Junior Forms spent last Lent Term (2018) working in response to ‘An Experiment on a Bird in an Air Pump’ by Joseph Wright of Derby. Their creative work spanned many subject areas from art to creative writing and science to drama. An exhibition at the Gothic warehouse at Cromford Mill celebrated what they had created. It was lovely having family members attend the exhibition to view the exhibits, the exhibition was then open to the public.
It is very exciting to learn that three of the outcomes of these projects will now go on display at The National Gallery in London. They will form part of an exhibition which will show the work from other school across the country who also had work selected.
Following a private view of the exhibition on 8th May, the exhibition will be open to the public from 9th May until August. We plan to take all our current Year 5 and 6 pupils to London for the day to view the exhibition in June.
