In recent months S. Anselm’s School has been running a detailed and rigorous process to recruit a new Headteacher. We have been assisted in that process by a company called RSAcademics whose team has been led by Anthony Goddard, the former Headmaster at Aysgarth School. The Governors were also joined by James Womersley, (recently retired Headmaster of Beaudesert Park School) in the long and short list interviews.

The decision of the Governors was unanimous and we are delighted to announce that Mr Frank Thompson will be joining S. Anselm’s School as our new Head in January 2020.

Frank has achieved an illustrious career in education to date, having been previously the Deputy Head at Mount St. Mary’s College, Head at Kilgraston School, the Director of Admissions at Ampleforth College and most recently Headmaster at Stoke College. The Governors were impressed by his wide range of experience including strategy, educational performance tracking and management and his knowledge and expertise of “through school” provision (Nursery and Prep, onto GCSE and A Level). In line with S. Anselm’s School ethos, one of Frank’s defining characteristics as a teacher and Head is his burning passion for education and a child centric philosophy.

Frank is very keen to get started and will be making plenty of trips to S. Anselm’s over the coming weeks and months. He also plans to meet with as many parents and staff as possible at the earliest opportunity.

Lisa Donnelly will continue in her role as Acting Head up to the end of December. She will then become Senior Deputy Head of S. Anselm’s and be working closely with Frank on a number of important initiatives.

S. Anselm’s prides itself on a strong reputation for providing an outstanding educational experience, combined with unparalleled extra-curricular opportunities; within a fun, idyllic and nurturing setting. We welcome Frank’s appointment as we take the next bold steps in ensuring S. Anselm’s remains one of the country’s leading prep schools that others aspire to emulate.
