The Children in Year 2 and 5 were extremely excited to display their award winning Upcycled Sensory Garden at the RHS Chatsworth Show last week. The children had spent so much time sharing their ideas, designing and building the final piece. We were so proud of all their hard work and the fantastically creative ideas which they translated into the finished design. After transporting our garden to the show last Tuesday and realising that 40 other schools were taking part in the Gardening for Schools Awards, we waited patiently to see if the public liked and enjoyed our design. As it turns out they absolutely did and … we won!!!

We are so incredibly proud of the children and to have their work recognised in this way is a very special moment for all the staff involved. As a school we now receive a Garden Centre voucher for £200, a beautiful Wedgwood Planter and a Plaque in recognition of the children’s achievement. We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone from school and the wider community who took the time to contribute to the garden, visit the show and vote, we couldn’t have done it without your support! A special mention goes to Mr Hardy for drilling the tins for us and to Mr Buswell who provided the pallet and scaffold pole as well as giving up a lot of his time to help stage and take down our garden at Chatsworth.
Another truly rewarding project completed!
