On Wednesday, S. Anselm’s girls’ teams were in action against Terra Nova.

Our U13A team travelled to Jodrell Bank for an away match in which our girls dominated, with our goal scorers being: Ruby x2, Corina x2 and Francesca x1.  Goalies Holly and Emelia managed to keep the Terra Nova score down, with some super saves, whilst Isabella in defence was voted as player of the match by the Terra Nova girls, for her feisty tackles and good distribution of the ball. The final score was 5 – 2 to us, well played!

At home the U11B girls found the Terra Nova team to be persistent and strong, with Tiggy tackling well and Kitty carrying the ball impressively.  Player of the match for this team was Libby, who worked her socks off to bring the ball down the pitch and win the ball back from the opposition, well done! T he final score was 0 – 3 to Terra Nova.

The U11A girls also played at home in their first game of the season, against a well organised Terra Nova squad, who had played in a festival the previous week.  The game was nail biting and end to end, with both teams having their chances to score.  New goalie Elspeth was outstanding, stopping the balls with her feet and kicking the ball clear, or diving if the ball was out of reach.  It was like watching Maddie Hinch again from the summer Olympics and rightfully, she was our player of the match.

Amelia also battled hard and sent some lovely balls in to Elsa, who was a little too wide on occasion, but all our girls gave the supporters plenty to cheer about, a great game and in the end a fair result for both teams, with a 0 – 0 draw – well played everybody!
