Year 3 enjoyed a morning out of the classroom, to visit and study the local villages of Little Longstone and Great Longstone. The children completed tally charts of traffic and looked at the different types of amenities and houses found in each village. They also spent time perfecting their sketching skills, whilst pondering the settlement patterns of each place. It was concluded that Little Longstone is a linear settlement and Great Longstone is nucleated. Having collected plenty of evidence, the children will continue their studies back in school over the next few days.
The morning was rounded off with an enjoyable picnic, lunch sitting among the Nine Ladies Stone Circle and discussing life in the Bronze Age!
