Friday saw thirteen of our S. Anselm’s musicians whisked away to the Nottingham Concert Hall to watch the hugely famous and inspirational young cellist, Sheku Kanneh-Mason, winner of the 2016 BBC Young Musician of the Year. The concert was a complete sell-out in Sheku’s home city and the atmosphere was incredible.

After first meeting the Kanneh-Mason family, courtesy of Mrs Percival and everyone getting their programmes signed, we then watched Sheku’s extremely talented sister Konya perform on piano.

The S. Anselm’s children then witnessed an incredible Elgar Concerto which left everyone thoroughly emotionally moved. The pupils were excellent ambassadors for S. Anselm’s School and we look forward to the next concert in Sheffield on Friday 18th January when the Hallé perform Rachmaninov Symphony No. 3 & the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto.
