Two of our girls had a very busy weekend, with both achieving great results with their sports teams outside of school.
Maddie B – Brunsmeer Girls Football Club, Semi-Final Match:
Maddie B plays for a girls’ football team in Sheffield, Brunsmeer Girls, Under 14. On Saturday, her team played a semi-final against the Doncaster Belles, a notoriously strong team. Maddie was selected as captain, showing great leadership from deep in defence and being incredibly strong, despite constant pressure from the Belles’ attack. Due to injury Maddie’s team were reduced to 10 players, but she stepped up, encouraging the girls to keep their heads up and get back into the game. As a result, her team won the match and are now through to the finals. She was also awarded ‘Girl of the Game’.
Well done, Maddie!

Ruby B – Derbyshire County Hockey Squad:
Ruby B was selected for the Under 13 Girls’ Derbyshire JAC (Academy) Hockey Squad in the Michaelmas Term, after completing the JDC (Development squad) sessions. Training ground to a halt in January due to the third national lockdown, but resumed in April. On Sunday, Ruby represented her County in her first fixture, at the Ellis Astro, Burton-upon-Trent, against county squads from Staffordshire. Her team performed brilliantly, finishing the morning undefeated after their three matches: Game 1, Drew 0-0; Game 2, Won 1-0; Game 3, Won 2-1.
Well played Ruby!
