Year 5 are exploring ‘The World Around Us’ in their art classes.

First, they considered positive and negative space by drawing or painting a pair of scissors.  They then created painted papers and cut out the shapes of leaves they found in the garden to show the uses of positive and negative space.

In their most recent art class, the children produced Tonal Scale photographs, exploring the range of shades and tonality from white to black.  The children were very inventive in their selection of different objects for their photographs, even involving their pets!  They also learned how to edit a photograph effectively, including cropping and changing it from colour to black and white.

The results are quite dramatic!
