Following hot in the U11’s footsteps, our S. Anselm’s U13 ‘s traveled down to Lee Valley youth hostel in good spirits on Wednesday afternoon.  After a sound night’s sleep and motivational team talk, they were excited but focused for the challenge ahead.

The boys began the day with a 2-0 victory against Stoner, both goals being scored by Johnstone.  The next match was a challenge, losing 1-0 against a very good Langley side who went on to win the group and ended up second overall.

Mr Hearne and Mr Critchlow rallied the team and the boys showed true Anselmian passion and determination, going on to win the following three games on the bounce, 3-0 against the Mount, 1-0 against St James and 2-0 against Thorpe Hall. The goals were scored by Collins, Johnstone and Hague.

This placed S. Anselm’s in the Plate final against Ardingly College and after an awesome walk out for the boys to AC/DC Back in Black, the final was off.

Unfortunately our team lost 4-0 to a very strong side, but the boys loved every minute and came home with a silver medal and the title of 4th out of 18 teams.

A wonderful trip and a phenomenal performance from our 13’s.  Congratulations to everybody.
