Weekly Bulletin

Weekly Bulletin
w/c Monday 28th October 2019

Welcome back to the second half of the Michaelmas term.

We ask all parents and families to read the Weekly Bulletin when it is published and refer back to it as necessary.  Over the next term we aim to increasingly make this our primary form of communication with home, so reducing the number of separate emails parents receive in their inboxes.

Opportunity to meet Mr Frank Thompson, our new Headmaster

In preparation for Mr Thompson taking up the position of S. Anselm’s new Headmaster, in January, he will be joining us in school this Friday 1st November and we are delighted to offer parents the opportunity to meet with him during the afternoon.  Parents of Pre-Prep and Nursery children are invited to meet with Mr Thompson informally for tea and refreshments in the main school library at 2.45pm. All parents are then invited to join him for refreshments in the library from 4.00pm and thereafter move to the Hargreaves Hall at 4.30pm when Mr Thompson will be addressing the parent body.

We would be grateful if you could confirm if you will be attending by emailing office@anselms.co.uk

Pottery and Sports Hall Games take place as usual until 5.15pm.

Only boarders are permitted to stay for the Zombie Chase.

Fun Mud Run

This Saturday

The inaugural Fun Mud Run takes place on Saturday – a fun steeplechase with various obstacles along the route including hay bales, the traditional water jump and more.  Pupils will wear their games kit and should bring old outdoor trainers with good grips (no running spikes or studs allowed).

Race times:

1.30pm  Years 7 & 8
2.00pm  Year 5 & 6
2.30pm  College
3.00pm  Years 3 & 4

Please note, the course and obstacles will be out of bounds to everyone before and after the races.

After pupils have run, they will shower, change and remain in school for an activity/film in the Hargreaves Hall until the Safety Talk at 3.45pm.

Parents are welcome to watch the races on Top Field and refreshments will be served in the pavillion.

Bonfire Night

This Saturday

We look forward to another spectacular Bonfire & Firework night this weekend.

Please ensure you purchase your tickets from the office before Saturday, as ticket prices will be higher on the gate.

After the Mud Run, pupils will shower and change into their warm clothes.  Please ensure children bring in extra warm home clothes and suitable footwear/wellies.

All Prep pupils must attend the safety briefing in the Hargreaves Hall at 3.45pm before ticking off at 4.00pm and joining their parents.

Entry to the event field will be at 4.00pm.

Sports Fixtures

Please note that all school sport matches listed in our school calendar are open events for parents and relatives to attend and support.

Further information regarding start times is published on the team sheets. These can be found in the Sports Fixtures area of the Parents’ Portal or in the sports hall foyer.

Sports Kit

We have recently had a number of reports from parents regarding items of Sports Kit going missing.  Please could parents check on a regular basis that your child has not come home with another pupil’s items, as this is easily done.

Thank you!

Year 7 Parents
Cheese & Wine Evening

Thursday 31st October

We are delighted to announce that a residential expedition to Northern France has been organised for all Year 7 during from 11th to 15th June 2020.

Our children will have the opportunity to experience the French culture as well as broadening their knowledge of pivotal moments in French history.

Year 7 parents are invited to a cheese and wine evening on Thursday 31st October from 5.15pm in the school library, where the trip will be explained in more detail.  We very much look forward to seeing you there!

Safe walkways in the car park

Over half term, we have had bump stops installed in the school car park to create safer walkways for children when entering/leaving school at drop off/pick up. We would ask you to encourage your children to walk in front of the parked cars between the bump stops and the curb, to reduce the risk of walking behind reversing cars.

Gates have also been made for the entrance and exit to the car park, which will be installed upon receipt of planning permission.
