Year 1 have had a super term learning all about the customs and traditions of the Chinese New Year.  They started by cleaning the classroom to wash away any bad luck.  They then made lanterns, carefully following instructions.  They tried new food and made a huge dragon out of paper plates; painted Chinese banners with Chinese characters and cleverly drew amazing dragons in pastels.

They then had great fun opening a pop-up restaurant, designing menus and food labels and reciting poems, songs and facts before a loud and colourful dragon danced through Pre-Prep!  Customers, including Mr Thompson, and teachers from across the school really enjoyed their food and left appreciative comments on the survey forms they were given.

It has been such a colourful and interesting project with lots of learning along the way!
