Packed and raring to go the Year 3s and 4s embarked on their much anticipated residential trip to Edale. The weather looked promising and spirits were high as our charismatic driver, Brian navigated the Peak District to our destination.
At the hostel, the children eagerly found their rooms and unpacked before an exciting afternoon of Ice -breaker activities commenced. The children were split into 3 groups and they all took part in some wonderful team building activities while getting to know their team leaders from the centre. A delicious meal followed before we all donned our sensible shoes and jumpers and headed out for the night hike. The views were spectacular and our leaders pointed out the wonderful hills and landmarks around us.
After a good night’s rest and a full English Breakfast it was time to start the main activities, Canoeing, Crate Stack, Archery and Weaselling. The three groups from the previous day went off with their teacher and team leader for some fantastic adventures, some on site and others at Higger Tor and Combs Reservoir.
Many happy, smiling but exhausted children arrived back at the hostel for a much needed hearty meal and after mustering up some energy, excitement built for the Treasure Hunt. The children explored every inch of the grounds at top speed in order to be the first to finish!
Bed beaconed at the end of a busy day, diaries were filled in and the showers were in full swing (for some)!
The last day arrived and the groups headed out for the last time some Canoeing, some testing their nerves on the Crate Stack and others Weaselling at Higger Tor, followed by a delicious ice cream!
Everyone said a sad farewell to the fantastic staff at Edale, for looking after them so well. Thank you also to all the S. Anselm’s staff who were involved in making this such a successful trip for our younger Prep School children!
