Our Junior Forms corridor is looking vibrant with its display of Pablo Picasso inspired portraiture, created by Year 4!

In their art lessons, the children learned about Picasso and his version of Cubism.  Did his distorted faces show his view of a person? Was his approach designed to portray a person from every possible angle all at once?  Could it be that Picasso sought to capture the sitter’s emotions and thoughts within the portrait?

As a starter activity to creating their own work, the children rolled dice to create randomly generated features from which to make up the faces.  They used bold oil pastel effects and then went onto create textile versions of their portrait, using felt.
