It was lovely to have the support of so many parents for the annual Year 6 and 7 Reading Competition which saw fourteen students, seven from each year group, take part after successfully getting through the tough class auditions.

The evening was an excellent opportunity for pupils to show case their talents, challenge themselves, and develop their confidence and public speaking skills. There was a lovely variety of extracts ranging from classics, such as “Black Beauty” to more modern texts such as “Harry Potter”, as well as poetry from “The Hobbit” and Rudyard Kipling’s “If”.

This year, Ms Lauren Sirr, who teaches English at Repton, judged the event. She was extremely impressed with the performances and very kindly gave each student supportive feedback on their performances. Judging the speeches was extremely difficult, as many of the pupils got near-top marks; however, Caleb Kern Lowe.

was announced as the winner for Year 6 with Andrew Robertson the runner up and Elsa Schaper the winner for Year 7 with Nancy Bennett the runner up. Huge congratulations and well done to all the students who took part in the evening.
