I am the Resident Head of Boarding at S. Anselm’s and I enjoy the energy and variety that boarding life brings. My role centres around pastoral care, wellbeing and the day to day experience of our boarders – from the practical routines to the special moments that make boarding feel like home. Alongside this, having a background in drama and creative arts ensures there is usually something imaginative, lively or slightly theatrical happening nearby (including singing show tunes in the morning to wake up the boarders)!
I have worked in boarding and education for over ten years developing strong pastoral leadership and have real passion for creating environments where young people feel safe, supported and known. I believe structure and care go hand in hand through clear expectations, consistency, and plenty of laughter.
My approach to boarding is simple: it should feel like a home-from-home where each pupil feels a true sense of belonging. I want every pupil to feel valued, listened to and encouraged to grow in confidence and independence. Whether that is through a quiet chat at the end of the day, celebrating achievements, or organising something a little bit different for the house.
If you asked me what my favourite thing about boarding is, I would have to say it is the everyday moments – the shared jokes, the teamwork, and watching pupils flourish as part of a community they’re proud to call their own.
