Our Ethos

At S. Anselm’s, children thrive in an environment where they are known, encouraged and inspired.

Our Senior School, from Year 9, will build on these foundations, guiding students with the same care, ambition and sense of belonging that defines our Prep School, while offering a seamless continuation of our ethos throughout their crucial GCSE years.

We believe these years should be about more than examinations. They should be a time of growing independence, deepening curiosity and developing confidence, both academically and personally.

What to expect

Our Senior School will reflect everything parents value about S. Anselm’s – a supportive community, high expectations, and a genuine understanding of each child as an individual.

Our vision for the Senior School includes:

  • Small class sizes with individual attention
  • Expert specialist teachers with experience of preparing pupils for GCSE success
  • A broad, balanced and academically ambitious GCSE curriculum
  • Outstanding pastoral care and personalised academic guidance
  • Preparation for Sixth Form and future pathways beyond school
  • A strong focus on character, resilience, confidence and wellbeing
  • Rich opportunities in sport, music, drama, leadership and service
  • Outdoor learning and enrichment in the heart of the Peak District
  • Exceptional facilities, including a swimming pool, theatre, all-weather Astro and extensive sports fields
  • Alongside GCSEs, there will be extended opportunities to study for, and take, nationally recognised qualifications and leadership experience such as; Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, Sports Leader UK qualifications and The King’s Trust Achieve programme (formally Prince’s Trust Achieve).

Together with GCSEs, every young person leaves S. Anselm’s with a portfolio of achievements that demonstrates not only academic success, but leadership, service, enterprise, adventure and performance.

Why stay at S. Anselm’s

The move to senior education is a significant milestone, but it does not have to mean leaving behind the relationships, values and sense of belonging that have helped children flourish.

Continuing at S. Anselm’s means pupils can approach their GCSE years with confidence, benefiting from the continuity of a school where they are already known and understood, while enjoying the challenge, independence and specialist teaching expected of an outstanding Senior School.

Fees

The good news is our Year 9, Year 10, and Year 11 fees will be the same as our Year 7 and Year 8 fees. These are currently £7,200 per term.
