Months of hard work and a commitment to constant improvement came together as our U13 boys represented the school at the 2026 ISA National Hockey Tournament – and what a day of hockey it proved to be.
A Team: Exceptional skill on the national stage
The A Team set the tone early, showcasing the high‑intensity hockey they’ve been developing throughout the season. Their disciplined play, sharp decision‑making, and cohesive teamwork – all hallmarks of their dedicated training – carried them to the top of their group with three wins and one draw. This secured a well‑earned place in the prestigious Cup competition.
The afternoon brought even tougher competition, but the boys rose to the challenge. In a gripping Cup semi‑final, they pushed Ardingly College to the very last play of the match, narrowly losing 2–1 in the final moments. It was an agonising finish, but a performance filled with courage, quality, and maturity.
Showing impressive resilience, the team immediately refocused for the third/fourth place play‑off. After a hard‑fought 1–1 draw, the match went to penalty flicks – this time luck wasn’t on our side. Still, to finish fourth nationally is an extraordinary achievement and a testament to the boys’ work ethic, determination, and the hours they have put into refining their skills week after week.
B Team: A journey of progress and team spirit
The B Team delivered a hugely impressive tournament of their own. Consistent, disciplined performances saw them draw three of their four morning games, securing their place in the Plate competition.
Their confidence and structure – built through steady improvement across the season – shone in a superb 2–0 victory over Radnor House in the semi‑final. The boys battled through a tense final that finished 1–1, once again decided by the narrow margins of penalty flicks. They may not have landed a win this time, but finishing 13th in the country is an exceptional result and a reflection of their teamwork and commitment.
Pride, progress, and a bright future ahead
Both squads demonstrated not only technical skill but also character, resilience, and sportsmanship – qualities that have grown through their dedicated training and their shared determination to represent the school with pride.
It was a memorable national tournament, full of learning and achievement – and a clear sign of the exciting hockey talent developing across the school. We can’t wait to see what next season brings.
